Installation view of Kris Martin’s Anonymous II from the 2009 exhibition The Quick and the Dead.
Anonymous II consists of a buried human skeleton with an accompanying burial certificate. Exhibition curator Peter Eleey wrote, “In both anonymity and the uncertainty of its location, the skeleton assumes a vast but invisible presence, becoming a metonymic figure for death itself.” By the way, it’s still buried here.
Every Monday we post an installation shot from exhibitions past on our Facebook page. Check out the rest of the Closed Mondays shots here.
